Deccan XI Girls lift Lion's Invitational Tournament
Lion’s Invitational Tournament, Pimpri.
The newly formed Deccan XI girls team took part in their first tournament organised by the Lion’s sports club,
Pimpri which was an U-19, 6-a-side tournament. The team was placed in a group of four from where the top
team would play the finals. At the end of the group matches, the girls had beaten all the teams in the group
and advanced to play the final against GoSports. The first half was a tale of missed chances until Rutuja Kibe’s
thunderbolt sank the opposition in the second half and shortly after, a goal mouth scramble led to Preeti Narayanan
killing off the encounter with a second goal. 2-0 was enough to see the team lift the winner’s trophy in the
first tournament they played together. A dream start to the many that will soon follow.
